Mark Bloomfield, Principal at Sustainably BuiltMark received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University. After several years working in composites research in the automotive industry, a decision to refocus on sustainability led to a move to Boulder, and work in green building. Mark began working for Alpen Inc, a high-performance window manufacturer in Boulder, creating energy models to demonstrate potential energy savings to prospective clients. After a transition to Vice President of Production for Alpen, Mark implemented product quality and waste reduction initiatives. After leaving Alpen, Mark joined LEED Management Services (LMS), a Boulder firm that manages and coordinates the LEED process for clients that seek LEED certification. Mark worked on the first LEED-Retail supermarket (awarded a Silver rating), as well as LEED-NC, LEED-CS and LEED-CI buildings and a Multiple Buildings (Campus) project. Mark coauthored a case study of the first LEED-Retail supermarket, to detail the benefits of green building to decision makers, and created other LEED focused educational materials.

Mark joined the Sustainably Built team in early 2008, and performs HERS field ratings, Manual J Residential Load, and Manual D Residential Duct calculations, and provides energy modeling services with e-Quest, and REM/Rate and Energy-10. Mark became a partner in Sustainably Built in mid 2009.

Adam Stenftenagel, Principal and Founder of Sustainably BuiltAdam entered the field of green building in early 2004. He served as a steering committee member of the Boulder Green Building Guild for 2 years, and is a LEED® Accredited Professional. Adam led a successful campaign to bring FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified dimensional lumber to Boulder, and remodeled two housing co-operatives with green building techniques. With the Center for ReSource Conservation (CRC), Adam managed a construction jobsite recycling program for the Holiday Development in North Boulder and was a green building consultant for numerous building projects as well as an advisor to the development of Boulder County's Build Smart program. As acquisitions manager of ReSource, Boulder's reclaimed building materials sales yard, he developed a successful materials salvage business, created a pilot program for carpet recycling, and helped craft the deconstruction and recycling requirements for the City and County of Boulder.

In the summer of 2007, Adam formed the limited liability company, Sustainably Built. After achieving RESNET certification as an energy rater, Adam performs HERS ratings for new construction and remodel projects throughout the Boulder and Denver Metro area. He also consults on numerous cutting-edge projects, including net-zero energy homes and the unprecedented cost-neutral net-zero energy development GEOS. Adam is currently a board member of the Boulder Green Building Guild.

In the spring of 2010, Adam reduced his responsibilities with Sustainably Built and went on to found the web-based software company Snugg Home. Snugg Home is dedicated to advancing the energy efficiency of existing buildings across the nation by making it easy for people to communicate with and access contractors, financing and rebates for energy efficiency projects. Adam is still part owner of Sustainably Built and consults on projects from time to time.

Max Nuttelman

max@sustainablybuilt.com

Max has spent most of the last ten years involved in residential construction and remodeling.  He has extensive experience in the residential building trades in Crested Butte, Boulder, and Telluride.  After becoming proficient in building and remodeling, he started HammerTime Home Improvements, a small remodeling company focused on existing homes.  In Crested Butte, Max joined Resource Engineering Group as a structural engineer.  There, he focused on 'right-sized' design and utilization of green materials and techniques in the design of high-end homes.  Max received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1999.  He has recently finished a Master's degree in the Building Systems Program at the same University.  His interests include energy modeling and passive design of buildings.

Max joined Sustainably Built in late 2010.  He works on HERS ratings and specializes in EnergyPlus modeling.  Many of his projects at Sustainably Built have focused on using EnergyPlus to determine energy savings and cost effectiveness of envelope and mechanical systems for new residences.
