RESNET Certified Home Energy Rater

In April 1995, the National Association of State Energy Officials and Energy Rated Homes of America founded the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) to develop a national market for home energy rating systems and energy efficient mortgages. RESNET created the Home Energy Rating System, or HERS, as a national standard for rating the energy efficiency of residential buildings in the U.S.

RESNET provides a strict set of standards, quality assurance, testing and verification that help ensure the consistency of the ratings. A rating done on the East Coast by one firm has the same results as would another done by a firm on the West Cost, if the house and climate were identical.

Adam Stenftenagel and Mark Bloomfield, Principals of Sustainably Built, are RESNET Certified Home Energy Raters, and can provide the rating services required to obtain Energy Star Ratings, LEED for Homes certifications, Energy Efficient Mortgages, as well as ratings required for building permits in the City of Boulder, Boulder County, and any jurisdiction that has adopted the IECC 2006 energy codes or newer.

RESNET/BPI Building Analyst Professional

RESNET (as mentioned above) has joined forces with the Building Performance Institute (BPI) to create a national standard for energy audits. Mark Bloomfield, Principal of Sustainably Built has achieved certification through this program to perform Comprehensive Home Energy Audits including blower door testing, duct leakage testing, infrared scans, and combustion gas testing.

LEED® Accredited Professional

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization composed of leaders from across the building industry working to advance buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. Since its founding in 1993, USGBC has been focused on fulfilling the building and construction industry’s vision for its own transformation to high-performance green building. Driving its mission to transform the built environment is the Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™. All of the Sustainably Built staff have earned LEED accreditation.

LEED for Homes (LEED-H) Green Rater

LEED for Homes is a rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. In order to achieve a LEED for Homes certification, a rater must be hired to verify and test the project. Sustainably Built is a LEED for Homes Green Rater under the providorship of Energy Logic and can help you through the entire process of achieving certification for your home. Sustainably Built has completed numerous LEED for Homes projects and has many more in process.
