It's a rapidly renewable resource (matures in 5 years), but what about the energy it takes to transport it from China? Recycled pop-bottle carpet can be 100% recycled, which preserves resources, but did you know that old carpet weighs four times more than new carpet? That's from the collection of dust and dirt that your vacuum cleaner just won't remove.

Adam Stenftenagel, Principal of Sustainably Built, spearheaded the campaign to bring Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) dimensional lumber to Boulder. Now it's available off the shelf at mupltiple locations in Boulder County. Through his work at ReSource, Boulder's reclaimed building material sales yard, Adam developed a successful program to advance the deconstruction of buildings in order to salvage and re-use those materials. At ReSource, he also spearheaded a pilot carpet recycling program to examine the feasability of recycling carpet in Boulder.
